A Novel Specification and Design Methodology of Embedded Multiprocessor Signal Processing Systems Using High-Performance Middleware
نویسندگان
چکیده
Embedded signal processing system designers need to be able to prototype their designs quickly and validate them early. This must be done in a manner that avoids premature commitment to the implementation target, especially when that target includes costly COTS parallel multiprocessing hardware. A new specification and design methodology known as MAGIC enables the designer to move from an executable specification through design exploration and on to implementation with minimal loss of specification and design information by leveraging compuation middleware (VSIPL) and communication middleware (MPI). Maintaining such information is a quality known as “model continuity,” which is established using the MAGIC specification and design methodology.

Real-Time Embedded Multiprocessor Signal Processing System Codesign Using Open-Standards Computation and Communication Middleware
There is a recognized need to improve the design methodology of large real-time embedded signal processing systems implemented with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) multiprocessor (MP) hardware and software. Some very useful and effective detailed codesign tool frameworks have begun to appear, which allow the designer to create deployable real-time application software for COTS MP systems. Still...
متن کاملCombining Virtual Benchmarking with Rapid System Prototyping for Real-Time Embedded Multiprocessor Signal Processing System Codesign
The codesign of embedded real-time signal processing systems is complex. The use of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) multiprocessor (MP) hardware and software can reduce codesign complexity. Further complexity reduction can be obtained with emerging rapid system prototyping (RSP) frameworks, which can generate deployable code by leveraging vendor communication and computation libraries. However,...
متن کاملVirtual Benchmarking and Model Continuity in Prototyping Embedded Multiprocessor Signal Processing Systems
The complexity of hardware/software codesign of embedded real-time signal processing systems can be reduced by rapid system prototyping (RSP). However, existing RSP frameworks do not provide a sound specification and design methodology (SDM) because they require the designer to choose the implementation target before specification and design exploration and they do not work together coherently ...

متن کاملConsidering Models of Computation in Developing A New Specification and Design Methodology for Large Real-Time Embedded Multiprocessor Signal Processing Systems
Complex real-time embedded digital signal processors such as are used in demanding applications like radar signal processing are now typically being implemented with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) multiprocessor (MP) technologies. The specification and design of such systems is complex, even when the design options are limited to these COTS technologies. New tools have recently appeared that s...
